History
After
the end of the 18th century there were only 2 races of horses
that had survived so far. These races of wild ponies were in
Europeand the Russian Steppes. The population of horses now days
in Asia, Eurpe, and North Ameerica all originated from these
two groups of wild horses. All of this happened at the end of
the ice age about 12000 years ago. Horses were hardly ever tamed
to ride in those days, as they were most often eaten.
3000
years later wild horses became increasingly rare. Until 3000
years arter that horses began appearing in our cultral contexts,
which possibly indicates slight forms of domestication.
The
oldest native British breed which still remain wild upto this
day is the Exmoor horses
People
would've found that the Mares would have proven useful because
of their milk, and both genderd could be used for heavy draft
work. At that point horses were still killed because of their
meat, but it was more commonly the stallions.
Horses
and ponies have been used for hundreds of years. Before we had
machinary, horses were used to pull the ploughs. Horses were a
main part of history as nearly all the farmers needed them to
pull the ploughs, so that they could grow crops for people to
eat.
Horses
and ponies started being ridden all over the world about five-thousand
years ago.
