Exmoor PoniesExmoor ponies can be found in Exmoor, Devon. Like all wild ponies they are timid and shy but the mothers are very protective about their foals. If you annoy them they can bite so watch out!
The true Exmoor pony are always dun with black points, they are lighter around the eyes and nose, but like the Dartmoor ponies other colours have been introduced. The Exmoors are Britains oldest native breed of wild horses. If you do go to Exmoor sometime and you see some ponies you must remember that they are wild and that they aren't used to people. So you musn't stroke them because they could behave aggresively towards you. A wild ponies natural diet is mainly grass, therefor you musn't feed them any of your food as it could react with them and make them ill. If ponies are constantly fed it could encourage them to wait at the roadside where there is a danger, as cars do sometimes go along too fast, which could cause accidents. Anyone can visit Exmoor ponies, you just have to go to Exmoor! |
