Animal: Giant African Land Snails
Colour: Stripey Browns and Yellows
Breed: Unknown – believed to be Achatina Achatina
Gender: hermaphrodites
Birthday: 8th May 2010 (Not known for certain).
Shelley, Claire and Felicity are my first three Giant African Land Snails! I got all three of them when they were babies (I’d say about a month or so old) – Claire and Shelley’s shells were less than an inch in diameter. Felicity was considerably biggerI got them on the 8th June 2010.
I believe them to be of the species Achatina Achatina.
At first I couldn’t easily tell them apart but now I can! Felicity is the biggest one with the widest stripes. Shelley is smaller with thinner stripes but of lighter and darker colours than the other snails. Claire is the smallest with the thinnest stripes.
They seem to like to eat courgettes and carrots best. Click here to see more photos of them
