My Pets: Jet
Name: Jet
Animal: Cat
Colour: Dark Brown
Size: Small to medium for a cat
Breed: Unknown
Gender: Male
Birthday: Not sure – some where in the 1990s
Jet was a stray cat that we adopted when we moved into a new house. We first saw him when we were viewing the farm, and then later on the 23rd November 2006 when he began to hang around permanently. We were never sure how old he was when we first adopted him, though he seemed quite old.
When we first adopted Jet he was very wary of us and very timid. Gradually we earned his trust by feeding him little bits of cheese and such.
Many a day Jet would curl up on my lap outside, enjoying the sunshine.
He didn’t come into the house a lot, though gradually as he got more use to us he would come in for longer times. He was always more scared when the backdoor was shut, (we didn’t have a cat-flap).
Jet was a very good hunter and caught on average around 6 or 7 mice each month. In my diaries for each year I would keep a tally of how many mice, rabbits and birds he caught. In 2008 he even caught a mole!
As he got older he came into the house a lot more, and towards the end of his life spent the majority of the time inside.
Sadly Jet died on the 1st August 2008.
