Great Plains Rat Snake
The scientific name for the Great Plains Rat Snake is: Elaphe Guttata Emoryi. These snakes belong to the Colubridae family.
Another name for this snake is ‘Emory’s Rat Snake’.
These snakes have a similar pattern to Corn Snakes, but are a different colour, being of a duller grey-brown colour. The saddle marks on these snakes are also darker in colour than the Corn Snake’s saddle marks.
Great Plains Rat Snakes can be found in Colorado and Mexico among other places in the mid-west of the US. Their natural habitat is grassland as the name of the snake suggests.
They can live up to 20 years old and grow up to 5 foot in length.
Like other snakes, they eat rodents.
